To review the perfect tense some more, let's remember that while many verbs have the letter "v" in the middle, many also have different perfect tense indicators. For instance: "habet" he has, "habuit" he had "emittit" he throws, "emisit" he threw "dicit" he says, "dixit" he said Play this game to practice the perfect stem markers. Check your score on the grammar check from last week. If you didn't do too hot, watch this video for a refresher and then try it again! Perfect/Imperfect Refresher Once you've done that, I'd like to draw your attention to a couple of words that will come up soon when you get back into Latin 2: hic, which means "this"; and ille, which means "that". There is more to it than that (they change spelling like servus/servum) but essentially you can work with them on a basic level. To practice, here are some song lyrics and movie titles that include the words "this" and "that". See what you can do! hic/ille song titles If you need to look up words (and you will) use Whitaker's Words instead of Google Translate. To start today, I'd like you to do a quick Verb Tense review, in large part so that I can see what needs reteaching as we move toward the end of the year. Please watch the remainder of the cartoon and complete the fill-in-the blank (Note: this is a scored assessment. We are switching gears this week to talk about one of my favorite cultural topics - the first emperors of Rome. I find the story behind how each one came to power to be fascinating and hope you will too. Please watch the video and respond in the reflection section (watch out! you will need to do a little bit of research on your own). As we wrap up our first Post-Break week, I want you to reflect on the activities we have done so far. You will have the opportunity now to do two items for credit based on the readings and videos from the week. 1. Watch the following video. Answer the questions here. This will be combined with the quiz from Tuesday's video. 2. Read the Choose Your Own Adventure again, this time choosing a third path that you haven't gone on yet. Use the following form to retell ONE of the paths that you took, submitting drawings, videos, summaries, and other artifacts to show how much of the story you understood.
