Good Morning and Happy Monday!
Check your score on the grammar check from last week. If you didn't do too hot, watch this video for a refresher and then try it again! Perfect/Imperfect Refresher Once you've done that, I'd like to draw your attention to a couple of words that will come up soon when you get back into Latin 2: hic, which means "this"; and ille, which means "that". There is more to it than that (they change spelling like servus/servum) but essentially you can work with them on a basic level. To practice, here are some song lyrics and movie titles that include the words "this" and "that". See what you can do! hic/ille song titles If you need to look up words (and you will) use Whitaker's Words instead of Google Translate. Reminder: I will post the submission folder and start checking the Julio-Claudian character comparisons tomorrow.

To start today, I'd like you to do a quick Verb Tense review, in large part so that I can see what needs reteaching as we move toward the end of the year. Verb Tense Review After that, watch the next installment of the Julio-Claudians and fill in the blanks with the names of the proper emperors on the poetry sheet. It also gives you a little preview into what is coming at the conclusion of the story tomorrow. Julio-Claudians Part 3 Poem Fill in the Blank Fill in the Blank Response Form Salvete!
Several of you mentioned that you liked the cartoons, so Bugs and Yosemite Sam (miles barbatus) are back in the arena today. Please watch the remainder of the cartoon and complete the fill-in-the blank (Note: this is a scored assessment. If you are working on improving your grade, be thoughtful and diligent with your answers) Bugs Bunny Video Part 2 Fill in the Blank After Bugs Bunny, let's continue the Julio-Claudian family tree. Review yesterday's video if necessary. There's no reflection today, but tomorrow we will finish it up and you will have a few days to do a small research project based on these people. Julio Claudians Part 2 Salvete!
We are switching gears this week to talk about one of my favorite cultural topics - the first emperors of Rome. I find the story behind how each one came to power to be fascinating and hope you will too. Please watch the video and respond in the reflection section (watch out! you will need to do a little bit of research on your own). Also, look through the CYOA to find a path you have not read yet and read it through a couple more times. More cartoons coming tomorrow! Julio-Claudian Video Julio-Claudian Reflection Check Choose Your Own Adventure Salvete!
As we wrap up our first Post-Break week, I want you to reflect on the activities we have done so far. You will have the opportunity now to do two items for credit based on the readings and videos from the week. 1. Watch the following video. Answer the questions here. This will be combined with the quiz from Tuesday's video. 2. Read the Choose Your Own Adventure again, this time choosing a third path that you haven't gone on yet. Use the following form to retell ONE of the paths that you took, submitting drawings, videos, summaries, and other artifacts to show how much of the story you understood. During the Zoom session I will model how you might do this. Zoom Link 11 AM Salvete!
Today we continue with the Choose Your Own Adventure. Please read the story again, but make different choices than what you did before. Record your experience in the link below. Adventure Story Adventure Log On Thursday, you will be asked to read one more path and then choose one to create a retelling of. We will also hold a Zoom meeting for any who want to attend at 11 AM. Salvete Discipuli
If you haven't yet read the adventure story from yesterday, please make sure you do that today. There will be another installment tomorrow. Today, we have a video about Tom and Jerry. I'd like you to watch the video at least 4 times through. Listen to the narration and try to understand more each time. Once you are done, please do this True/False check and write me 3 more sentences explaining what you just saw. Don't resort to Google - trust your own Latin and your own eyes and ears. Welcome Back Discipuli!
Please watch This Video before doing anything else. We are going to start back, easing into Latin a bit today with an adventure story. You are going to have a chance to choose your own adventure here. I want you to read the story and choose what you think will happen next. Read through the paths you like a couple of times. Then go to the attached form to explain what you understood. I'll be adding to the story throughout the week. Story Form As you read more every day, you will have opportunities to show your understanding. On Thursday I will provide an assignment that I will grade based on the Choose Your Own Adventure. Students and Parents,
This notification is to inform you of the latest information released by the county regarding your child’s grade. As noted from the district communication, students have a choice to accept their grades as of March 13, 2020 as final grades for the 2019-2020 school year OR Continue to earn grades for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year to improve their grade(s). We want to clarify that if a student chooses not to participate, perform or actively engage with his/her teacher(s) and they do not take advantage of assignment opportunities, this will result in their final grade being the grade that they had on March 13th. The only way for the March 13th grade to improve is for the student to submit assignments and participate in the digital learning opportunities made available to him/her by the teacher. |
